Design

Oamaru Stone adds an extra dimension to architectural design. It can be pre-formed into any shape the designer may require by our skilled stone masons. The finished stone veneer can look sheer, only close inspection will reveal subtle shifts in colour, grain and cutting textures. Due to the sedimentary nature of limestone, fossils of pre-historic life are also found in the delicate texture of the stone.
 

Antiquity

Oamaru Stone is Limestone. A timeless material that was used to create the pyramids and ancient Rome. Limestone also is a favorite medium of sculptors. Oamaru lends its name to this famous white stone quarried in Weston, North Otago. These qualities saw Oamaru Stone being used from significant buildings throughout the South Island and on several important buildings in the North Island, notably the restored Auckland Town Hall.
 

Longevity

Limestone may well have been the builders and sculptures choice throughout history, but does it have a place in contemporary design and architecture. Architecture created in this material will stand the test of time. Comtemporary structures established using this material truly have timeless quality built in, complementing the designers creativity and craftmanship.
 

Inspirational

This stone product is ideal for most structural and all ornamental applications. From fluted columns of any height to architrave's and fire surrounds. Oamaru Stone provides the designer with the inspiration to be creative with stone work.
 

Dimensions

Oamaru Stone is available for delivery throughout New Zealand as either sawn or split face.

The Standard block sizes are:

650mm x 100mm x 390mm
650mm x 100mm x 290mm
650mm x 100mm x 190mm
650mm x 100mm x 90mm

Stone of other dimensions can be created at the quarry to your specifications.
